The winery is located in the north of Campania, Caserta area, at the foot of Monte Maggiore mountein, which dominates on one side the basin rich in mineral waters of Riardo (famous for the Ferrarrelle source) and on the other the Volturno valley. Since the time of Bourboni royal family was a hunting area for wild boar of the barony of Formicola. The winery “Il Verro” name is inspired by that the locals gave to the male wild boar (il verro). The story of this adventure has its roots in the friendship born in the sixties, when five young hopefuls meet on high school desks. Like all long-standing ties, it needed nourishment: now, what feeds and makes a human relationship solid and irreplaceable, if not sharing an interest?

Thus, a piece of land in sweet slope, completely invaded by brambles and weeds, has become the catalyst of the energies of friends now eager to return to the solid values ​​of the oldest traditions of the native land, giving life in 2003 to an ambitious wine project: to produce quality organic wines.

The company produces about 20,000 bottles resulting from the processing of 4 native vines; Casavecchia (red wine), Pallagrello Bianco (white wine), Pallagrello Nero (red wine), Coda di Pecora (white wine).

Of the 14 hectares owned, only 4 are planted with vines preferring soils rich in lava and with exposure to South South-East where there are significant temperature variations between day and night; centuries-old olive, walnut and cherry trees surround the estate. Il Verro has rediscovered and started work to enhance the ancient Coda di Pecora grape variety cultivated in the past in the area of ​​choice between Monte Maggiore and Roccamonfina, on which experiments have been underway for some years. An old writer expert in vines in 1875 cites him in his works on viticulture in Campania.
